Gangrape Rewarded
Yall know I don’t get into politics or political much of anything..
But once in a while something so unbelievable happens and
I have toacknowledge it. This is so wrong.
And I have a question, what is the out take of all this concern for this victim?
Is there a fund being started somewhere for this 17 yr olds aid?
If so John and I will contribute.
shakespearessister has this to say.. In the long term, some rape victims act out. Some crawl inside themselves. Some have healthy sex lives. Some never will again.
Now here are some things that are true. Rape is underreported. Reporting a rape is difficult, and can be embarrassing, shameful, hurtful, frustrating, and too often unfulfilling. Quite bluntly, there is very little incentive to report a rape. It’s a terrible experience, and the likelihood of seeing justice served is a long shot. Even if it is, it usually comes at great personal cost, with one’s sexual history put on public display amidst the dismay of reliving the attack—and an extended trial can necessitate living in a state of suspended animation, where moving on from that moment is all but impossible. The only real incentive one has is knowing the sacrifice might prevent the same thing from happening to someone else. Not a small thing, but a big personal investment.
And now, women have one less reason to come forward—the possible horror of watching their attackers go free while they are found guilty.

It was especially interesting that the prosecutor kept referring to the three men involved as ‘boys’, when they were fully grown men. The woman was 17.
The judge found inconsistencies in all of the stories, thus establishing reasonable doubt in every story. Yet he convicted the victim. ‘Boys’ will be ‘boys’.

I don’t know that I’d touch this one with a ten foot pole. The guy (Mr. Hayden) who started this hubbub now admits that he’s a close personal friend of the girl he is championing. It all seems a little fishy to me.
Not that the other side of the case presents a solid defense, either. I just don’t see the blogging community rallying around the boys - but that’s normally the case when these kinds of accusations are made. It doesn’t really matter if the boys are innocent; they’re now branded rapists for the rest of their lives.
Funny that there’s no physical evidence, though. Rape is often quite easy to prove if reported immediately.
I maintain that it’s all very fishy on both fronts. However, the distinction between an 18 year old male being a man and a 17 year old female being a girl is beyond legalist-pedantic. I’d say all four of them are children.
I am more concerned that a young woman has been branded a liar, and convicted of filing false charges.
Rape is a crime, and for what ever reason the young woman chose to wait to report it is really not the issue. For a judge to convict her based in part on not acting traumatized is bull excrement.
I think the blogging community needs to seriously consider helping with a appeal if that be monetarily fine, or simply to generate publicity that this is a wrong message.
Sad that in all this these, families will be so damaged.
