How about A Kidney?

I cant seen to get past this number, you see it is the number of people in Florida. Waiting for a kidney transplant.
The U.S. Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)are the folks who ensure the parts get where they are supposed to, well in theory anyway.

My sister Kat died 2 yrs ago, she died waiting for a kidney, she was on all the lists.
She was on dialysis 5 hours a day before she died, she would sneak calls to me,
so she could quit being everyone’s mom and wife and just be Kat, my sister who wanted to die.
She wanted to quit dialysis, but her husband and kids didn’t want her to.

The dialysis people were very kind, but she wanted to die. Dialysis exhausts you.
Dying from kidney failure is really not pleasant, About 2 months after we last had this conversation,
The Queen Mother went to pick her up, she had fallen in the kitchen, dead.

The Queen Mother railed for months about the injustice of a 48 yr old mom dying,
I finally figured out she was saying,it’s not right to outlive your kid.
She is right, you shouldn’t. I know.

What does this have to do with anything?

My friend Nee is one of those waiting , she is one year today on dialysis, she is already tired of it.
She questions just letting go of all of it. Just dying.

She called me this afternoon to talk, they are moving her to more frequent dialysis sessions.
She had read about the assisted suicide bill being upheld in Oregon.
She wonders if she moved there if she could get into the program, I for a change kept my mouth shut and just listened.
Seemed like the smartest thing to do.

I wonder why so few Americans are willing to sign up as organ donors.
I wonder if people really believe when they are dead that they need those parts.

For a free organ donor card or just imformation contact the National Kidney Foundation at 202-244-7900 or info@kidneywdc.org.

Chocolate New Orleans

Published by pet under Life, News.., Semi-Political

Mayor Ray Nagin suggested Monday that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that “God is mad at America” and at black communities, too, for tearing themselves apart with violence and political infighting. “Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it’s destroyed and put stress on this country,”
Unlike Mr. Nagin, who is apparently very intimately acquainted with Gods thinking. I personally don’t know the mind of God well enough to explain His actions, or to know what God is thinking. I am not a prophet, sometimes I am not even a very good Christian.

But I do know that the Bible is very clear about the fact that God is currently withholding his wrath for a day of judgment which is to come, and you can be very certain, there will be no mistaking that day.(2 Peter 3:5-7)
God in His love and mercy is withholding His judgment on wickedness and evil to allow for all to hear his message of salvation in Christ, and respond to His free gift of salvation through Christ’s death on the cross.

Christ was an inclusionist, He actually wanted to free people from fear, rejection and abuse, Mary the Magdalene a whore was included, the social outcasts were included, and in fact even I was included.
Interestingly enough Dr. King also spoke these words..”We cannot walk alone“.

I think instead of creating anew and fostering the idea of racial separatism which breeds hostility, perhaps would be better served to focus on the healing ministry of Gods love and His plan of redemption for man.

Mr. Nagin, wants to move beyond Dr. Kings Dream, where people are not judged by the color of their skin, but rather by the content of their character.
Mr. Nagin say’s “It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans,” the mayor said. “This city will be a majority African American city. It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans.”
Color me stupid… but is this what Dr. King had in mind?

The ACLU Changeling’s Again

Published by pet under News.., Semi-Political

My favorite oh my God what are they doing ACLU changeling’s are at it again.
This time they have taken on the NSA, this should provide plenty of interesting chewing of the cud facts… for everyone to have a serious case of Indigestion, for a long while.
if you can stomach it….

Saying that the Bush administration’s illegal spying on Americans must end, the American Civil Liberties Union today filed a first-of-its-kind lawsuit against the National Security Agency seeking to stop a secret electronic surveillance program that has been in place since shortly after September 11, 2001.

In addition to the ACLU, the plaintiffs in this case are: Authors and journalists James Bamford, Christopher Hitchens and Tara McKelvey , Afghanistan scholar Barnett Rubin of New York University’s Center on International Cooperation and democracy scholar Larry Diamond, a fellow at the Hoover Institution. Nonprofit advocacy groups NACDL, Greenpeace, and Council on American
Islamic Relations, who joined the lawsuit on behalf of their staff and membership.

In the legal complaint filed, the ACLU said the spying program violates Americans’ rights to free speech and privacy under the First and Fourth Amendments of the Constitution.
“The prohibition against government eavesdropping on American citizens is well-established and crystal clear,” said ACLU Associate Legal Director Ann Beeson, who is lead counsel in ACLU v. NSA. “President Bush’s claim that he is not bound by the law is simply astounding. Our democratic system depends on the rule of law, and not even the president can issue illegal orders that violate Constitutional principles.”

Here’s a touch of Irony for yall…
“Because of the nature of their calls and e-mails, they believe their communications are being intercepted by the NSA under the spying program.”
Jay say’s“So, while our military fights the good fight, the ACLU are suing over an inconvenience in its ability to talk to the very people who want to kill us all. Like I said before, the ACLU’s slogan of “Keep America Safe and Free” is an absolute lie. They care more about the imaginary rights of our enemies than any kind of safety for America. They have done absolutely nothing for America’s safety, and everything in their power to fight the efforts to protect America!”
