Chocolate New Orleans

Mayor Ray Nagin suggested Monday that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that “God is mad at America” and at black communities, too, for tearing themselves apart with violence and political infighting. “Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it’s destroyed and put stress on this country,”
Unlike Mr. Nagin, who is apparently very intimately acquainted with Gods thinking. I personally don’t know the mind of God well enough to explain His actions, or to know what God is thinking. I am not a prophet, sometimes I am not even a very good Christian.

But I do know that the Bible is very clear about the fact that God is currently withholding his wrath for a day of judgment which is to come, and you can be very certain, there will be no mistaking that day.(2 Peter 3:5-7)
God in His love and mercy is withholding His judgment on wickedness and evil to allow for all to hear his message of salvation in Christ, and respond to His free gift of salvation through Christ’s death on the cross.

Christ was an inclusionist, He actually wanted to free people from fear, rejection and abuse, Mary the Magdalene a whore was included, the social outcasts were included, and in fact even I was included.
Interestingly enough Dr. King also spoke these words..”We cannot walk alone“.

I think instead of creating anew and fostering the idea of racial separatism which breeds hostility, perhaps would be better served to focus on the healing ministry of Gods love and His plan of redemption for man.

Mr. Nagin, wants to move beyond Dr. Kings Dream, where people are not judged by the color of their skin, but rather by the content of their character.
Mr. Nagin say’s “It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans,” the mayor said. “This city will be a majority African American city. It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans.”
Color me stupid… but is this what Dr. King had in mind?
