Televangelist’s
Televangelist’s aggravate me.
Jerry Falwell sued a young man who dared to publicly disagreed with him, then pushed the case to the Supreme court who declined to hear the case yesterday.
When Jerry Falwell, a Baptist preacher, after the 9/11 Terrorist
Attacks pointed his finger at, well everyone who didn’t fit into his little nitch, the moral majority, which is neither moral nor the majority by the way. With this charming statementwhich was followed by an apology……
“I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen.’”
A teacher of the word of God is one, who helps us mature spiritually as individuals, by teaching the mind of God thru The Word of God.
This quote from Pat Robertson suggesting that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s stroke was divine punishment for the Gaza withdrawal.
“God considers the land to be His. You read the Bible and He says, ‘This is my land,’ and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, He says: ‘No, this is mine.’” This was also followed by an apology…
I have to wonder if they tore this page out of their bibles.
Luke 9:51-56 NIV
When Christ’s disciples, James and John, saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and to consume them?” But [Jesus] turned and rebuked them and said, “You do not know of what spirit you are of, for the Son of Man has not come to destroy the lives of human beings, but to save them.” Then they went on to another village.”
Now I know that many Christians for one reason or another choose to worship in their pajamas at home, rather than being bothered to get dressed, and drive to church. That’s ok with me, and it’s between them and God.
Micah 6:8 says that what God expects of us is to “act justly and love mercy,” to hold ourselves to high standards of righteousness while showing mercy to others. It’s amazing how easily we turn that around to where we desire mercy for ourselves and impose high standards on others.
