Another Recall~More Questions

Published by pet at 6:48 am under Poisoned Pet Food

It’s being called the dilution effect, The FDA would have you believe
that if you dilute melamine or cyanuric acid far enough they become a harmless poison.

It’s still a poison mind you, but it becomes a safe for humans to ingest poison.

Although the Lick Your Chops Kitten & Cat food does not contain any Wheat, Rice or Corn Gluten protein, it was produced around the same time there may have been other products manufactured that contained rice gluten, even though tests on these products did not indicate any presence of contamination. Although all equipment is thoroughly cleaned at our manufacturer between production runs, to be on the safe side we are initiating this recall with your cat’s best interest at heart. There have been no occurrences of cats getting sick from this product.

How much more dilution can there be, if no melamine or cyanuric acid is found in food?
That simply the risk of cross contamination is enough to trigger yet another recall?

Just what part of ignorant and gullible are we to be? It’s too early in the day for me to truly be as snarky as Id like to be.

The FDA has produced a list of veterinarians, carefully handpicked to side with them as to the safety of eating animals that were fed melamine contaminated foods. These include: FDA Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Sure makes me want to trust all the information we have been fed for the last 3 months.

I’d personally like some assurances from the CDC that this contaminated food is safe, has no long term accumulation effects, and wont be found to create some weird disease in humans in 5 or 10 years.

Fussy us, we’d rather have our food be free of the poisons melamine and cyanuric acid.
And we would like to believe that when we buy a product, what’s listed is actually what’s in it.

Duane Ekedahl (president of the Pet Food Institute [PFI]) stated: There were specific articles that were troublesome and bloggers who were off the charts. But in total, I came away with a respect for the probing nature and overall honesty of the questions.

The FDA keeps citing this report as a valuable source of information.
