Todd Beamer

As a young man Todd Beamer excelled at sports. Beamer played baseball for Fresno State University before transferring to Wheaton College in Illinois where he met his wife Lisa. While he continued to play baseball, he got serious about his future, eventually earning a master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University.

Todd and Lisa married in 1994 and moved to New Jersey where he went to work for Oracle.
They taught senior Sunday school classes together for six years. They were a family
Of faith.
They had two boys, David, 4, Drew, 2. Lisa was pregnant with their third child Morgan, who was born 4 months after Todd’s death.

Todd managed to keep communicating with an operator for the last 13 minutes of his life.
“I think we’re OK now,” he said. Then he asked me to say the Lord’s Prayer with him.
“If I don’t make it through this, would you tell my wife and family how much I love them?” Todd asked.
“Of course I’ll do that for you, Todd,” I replied, and offered to patch her through on another line.
“No,” he replied. “She’s expecting our third child in January, and I’d rather not upset her with any bad news.”

His final known words were “Let’s roll,” a cry for action as he and several others attempted to take control of the plane by fighting the terrorists

While the hero’s couldn’t subdue the terrorists, they did prevent the plane from crashing into another building, saving countless lives.

Flight 93 crashed into the ground in Shanksville, Somerset County, PA.
