The BengalBrats and I are personally boycotting them.
Yes that’s right. We are ignoring, boycotting the glorious 35 billion dollar Chinese Olympics.
The IOC itself negotiated and allowed censorship. Free communications Tiggers butt.

China, the country that last year turned a blind eye as Chinese-made pet food additives
sickened and killed who knows how many cats and dogs?

Then, the US Product Safety Commission recalled about 30 million toys made in China last year after discovering that they had been decorated with colorful but deadly, banned lead paint. Just this past May, Earth 911 pointed out yet another recall for poison toys.

Don’t even get me started on heparin that killed some 81 American citizens, while China shrugged and said oops. Or tooth paste, cough syrup, medicines; baby formula…the list just goes on and on.
Oops, oops,oops, oops.

Fair trade, you know the idea that it’s a win –win situation? Perhaps on the far side of Uranus, certainly not between the USA and China.

Human Rights

(Ummm remind me to send this essay to his honorable Chinese Mr. Suck It Up and his side kick Mr. Who Cares)? China has the right to imprison or kill at will. Don’t like it, Tough.

Can’t stand the thought of babies being aborted and then murdered during live birth, certainly you won’t want to read this.

Children sold openly as slaves?

Organ harvesting for profit…Come on I know they are just Falun Gong prisoners after all…

Oh and did you all notice that while Beijing made a big production about taking dog meat off the menu. No one mentioned cat meat, or for that matter rat meat.

There is no danger to the human food chain.
Melamine is diluted thru animal ingestion and poses no risk.
There has been no contamination to the human food chain.
Heh.

The FDA has been shooting its mouth off since March 18th, 2007.
Credibility is zero in my perspective.
Believability is lower than that.
That is probably a oxymoron.. I’m entitled..

Melamine is poison. Cyanuric acid (used to sanitize pool water), is also poison

Poison and human lives don’t mix well.

This has been proven to the heartbreak of thousands of furbaby owners.
TheMasterOfTheUniverse and I question strongly if BuddyTheDog,
Was a early victim of this poison, fed with love, unknowingly. We miss him so!

I think the USDA and the FDA need to pull their collective heads out of the
Cesspools they currently occupy and get some real Doctors. Not veterinarians, to test the long term effect on human beings. And for those of you that believe the CDC is involved give them a call I did and was oh so not happy at what I was told.

Poison kills.

With the increasing demand for pets, wholesale pet supplies has become highly profitable business. Pet accessories are available on different sites. Now a day variety of comfortable animal shelters are available in market and different animal rescue organizations are working all over the world.

NOTICE To All Concerned Pet Owners:

In the on-going FDA investigation of contaminated rice protein concentrate, the FDA has attempted to link other brands that might have possibly been affected due to potential cross contamination of ingredients. Evolve Kitten Food made on March 12, 2007 has now been included in this group.

As of today, 99.4% of the 27,560 lbs. of product made on March 12, 2007 (Best Used By Sep 13 08) has been accounted for and removed from sale. Currently there is 168 lbs. that has not been accounted for. The above 168 lbs. is a total of 9 units in 3# and 7# sizes. Based on the date of manufacture, retail information, consumer contact and expected daily consumption, we strongly believe ALL remaining products from this date have been safely consumed with no adverse effects.

The Evolve formulae do NOT contain any wheat gluten or rice protein concentrate, and the FDA tests confirmed that no melamine was present.

As a valuable Evolve customer, we want you to be aware of this situation despite the fact no melamine have been found by independent testing. This action is a precautionary measure only, as there is no evidence to suggest these products in any way pose a health hazard.

This action effects the March 12, 2007 manufacture date and product only. No other Evolve products have been or will be involved. Feel free to contact us at nationalsales@triumphpet.com with any questions or concerns.

Thank you.

It’s being called the dilution effect, The FDA would have you believe
that if you dilute melamine or cyanuric acid far enough they become a harmless poison.

It’s still a poison mind you, but it becomes a safe for humans to ingest poison.

Although the Lick Your Chops Kitten & Cat food does not contain any Wheat, Rice or Corn Gluten protein, it was produced around the same time there may have been other products manufactured that contained rice gluten, even though tests on these products did not indicate any presence of contamination. Although all equipment is thoroughly cleaned at our manufacturer between production runs, to be on the safe side we are initiating this recall with your cat’s best interest at heart. There have been no occurrences of cats getting sick from this product.

How much more dilution can there be, if no melamine or cyanuric acid is found in food?
That simply the risk of cross contamination is enough to trigger yet another recall?

Just what part of ignorant and gullible are we to be? It’s too early in the day for me to truly be as snarky as Id like to be.

The FDA has produced a list of veterinarians, carefully handpicked to side with them as to the safety of eating animals that were fed melamine contaminated foods. These include: FDA Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Sure makes me want to trust all the information we have been fed for the last 3 months.

I’d personally like some assurances from the CDC that this contaminated food is safe, has no long term accumulation effects, and wont be found to create some weird disease in humans in 5 or 10 years.

Fussy us, we’d rather have our food be free of the poisons melamine and cyanuric acid.
And we would like to believe that when we buy a product, what’s listed is actually what’s in it.

Duane Ekedahl (president of the Pet Food Institute [PFI]) stated: There were specific articles that were troublesome and bloggers who were off the charts. But in total, I came away with a respect for the probing nature and overall honesty of the questions.

The FDA keeps citing this report as a valuable source of information.

According to the alert notice posted on the FDA website Friday, the agency has so far taken 750 samples of wheat gluten and products made with wheat gluten and found 330 positive for melamine or melamine combined with another substance. (Note: This mystery substance is not revealed)
It also found 27 positives out of 85 samples of rice protein concentrate and products made with rice protein concentrate.

All of the samples that tested positive were imported from China.

“I don’t believe it has reached such a serious stage that human food is at risk,” Wu Yongning, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety, part of China’s Ministry of Health, said in Beijing. “Problems occur in all countries.”

“Generally speaking, American consumers should not worry too much,” said Luo Yunbo, Head of the Food Science and Nutrition Engineering Institute at China’s Agricultural University in Beijing. “We select the best products for the international markets.”

REPORTER: How much does, how many – can you give me kind of an idea of what that is of the total market for the year or anything like that?
DR. PETERSEN: Well, for breeders, what we call a heavy fowl, let me just, off the cuff, probably, total heavy fowl slaughter I would say would be several million.

I have no idea if The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) <strike> actually believe the horse pucky nonsense they put out</strike> serious about their joint update.

Saying something is poisoned, but is only a small part of your diet so it is safe
<strike> infuriates me</strike> makes me wonder if they have been smoking some Asian weed.

I’d make a wild guess and bet they are not willing to eat any of the
Pork off these quarantined farms either. Although the rest of the poisoned pork already in the human food chain is safe, and does not need to be recalled. Heh.

If a food is known to be poisoned and therefore harmful, my best guess is, gee let me think. Don’t eat it. Ok, that was not rocket science, common sense perhaps or a desire to stay alive and healthy.

I think that the Chinese suppliers got a bit carried away when spiking the wheat and rice glutens and protein concentrates.

I strongly suspect it was not a matter of accumulated poison; rather it was a big dose that killed so many of our family pets. As one of the Chinese men said, they are pets; they don’t need that much protein.

None the less for the Government to say these pork products are safe is pretty darn scary.

What is safe?

I don’t know, but if anyone offers me a deal on pork… I’ll pass.

Cats and dogs are mostly liked by people as pets. Comfort level of pets has been increased due to availability of accessories like pet bed. Dog lovers pay special attention to the dog food and trend of pet gifts has become very common.

Sometimes what the FDA doesn’t say is as damning as what they do say.

The truth needs no defense; it’s the lack of truth that has proved so damning in recent months.

They have admitted that the contaminated wheat and rice glutens, and protein concentrate go back at least as far as July of 2006.

They have stated that the 6000 or so hogs, currently testing positive for melamine poisoning will not be allowed to enter the human food chain.

Officials at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration expect that approximately 6,000 hogs, now under quarantine, will be euthanized even as they announced that the likelihood of illness after eating pork from the animals is very low. The affected hogs are in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, Kansas, Oklahoma and Utah.

They have also stated they will not be issuing a recall on pork.
Hmmm, let’s think about this….

The FDA assessment that, if there were to be harm to human health, it would be very low, is based on a number of factors, including the dilution of the contaminating melamine and melamine-related compounds from the original rice protein concentrate as it moves through the food system. First it is a partial ingredient in the pet food; second, it is only part of the total feed given to the hogs; third, it is not known to accumulate in the hogs and the hogs excrete melamine in their urine; fourth, even if present in pork, pork is only a small part of the average American diet. Neither FDA nor USDA has uncovered any evidence of harm to the swine from the contaminated feed. In addition to the dilutional factor and the lack of evidence of illnesses in the swine fed the waste pet food, we are not aware of any human illness that has occurred from exposure to melamine or its by-products.

So the question is, if the contaminated hogs are to be destroyed why
Is the rest of the pork not being recalled?

Low risk, Isn’t this the same government agency that 3 weeks ago assured us that there was NO threat to the human food supply?

Conversely if there is low threat why are the hogs being destroyed?

Heh.
