Peace Like A River

Filed under Christian, Faith

“When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul”

Horatio Gates Spafford

Because of God’s love toward me and not because of anything I had done to deserve it, He saved me.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

I was lost in life. I’m not now, because God loved me, He led me by the Spirit to seek His Love. When I turned to Him and accepted that love, He set me free and gave me peace.

God’s word guides me every day in every way if I allow myself to walk in the Spirit of Godliness. Yes it is a choice we make moment by moment. In live and in death He will still be with me. I have found utter peace through the experiences of the last month. Perhaps this lesson was simply about faith, trust and resting in God’s love.

The world I live in now is often inflexible and intimidating; it’s easy to forget the focus. It’s so easy to get caught up in the politics of failure in our churches and pastors, to focus on Their sins, rather than our own.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:9

The amazing part of this is that I am a sinner, forgiven by grace and the love of God.
Are you?
